The East Islip Beautification Committee (a division of our Chamber of Commerce) will once again be doing the hanging basket project on Main Street and in the Terrace on Carleton Avenue in May. For some of you that are not familiar, I would like to share some info as follows: -unlike other towns, our project is unique. We work closely with Bea Petersen and her generosity of the EJ Autism Foundation. Our special needs children from our high school life skills class plant a portion of the baskets. It is wonderful for our kids to see daily what they planted with their own hands for their town. – all other material and plantings come directly from Ighl (smile barn) which is a non profit greenhouse in Moriches that employs developmentally challenged individuals to grow the flowers. – We hang over 220 flower baskets on Main and Carleton. – This coming year color combination will be bubblegum and silverberry.
- – We have added 9 more hangers on Main Street when we hung the holiday wreaths this year.
- – We rely solely on donations and Light the Night participation. -Last year the fee to Sponsor a basket was $45, this year it will only be $25, as most of the cost last year was for the hangers themselves. Please send donations to EICC Beautification Committee 155 Carleton Ave. East ISLIP, questions can be directed to Dana at 631-972-7101 thank you
